FAQ

What is the best way to make an appointment?

Please call 410.381.1574 to schedule an appointment.  The Administrative Assistant, Sandy, has hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9:30 to 3:30.  However, you can call whenever it’s convenient for you and we’ll return your call as soon as possible.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Please wear comfortable clothing with an elastic waistband.  If you’re being seen for a neck or shoulder injury, please wear a camisole, tank top or sports bra.  If you’re being seen for a hip, knee or ankle injury please wear or bring shorts.

Do you take insurance?

L A R Physical Therapy is non-participating with all insurance companies.  We believe this allows for higher quality care for our patients.  At L A R Physical Therapy your entire, typically hour long, appointment is spent with your therapist.  Other clinics that accept insurance need to see numerous patients per hour, reducing the amount of time you spend with your therapist, and patients frequently have three sessions per week.  At L A R Physical Therapy, you are taught exercises and self-management tools by your therapist, which empowers you to take your treatment into your own hands.  When you come to therapy, the time is spent in skilled manual intervention and progressing your exercises under close supervision by your physical therapist.

Frequently our clients get reimbursement from their insurance companies depending on their insurance coverage. L A R Physical Therapy provides physical therapy patients with a claim form, which can be submitted to their insurance company.  Co-payments are usually around $30, and at 3 visits per week, clients may be paying upwards of $90 a week for limited time spent with their physical therapist; not to mention the time wasted going back and forth to therapy two or three times a week.  When comparing rates at L A R Physical Therapy, $120 for an hour with your therapist, L A R Physical Therapy will save you time and money, returning you to your activities in a more timely, efficient manner.  Additionally, you will be empowered to manage this and other future injuries.

Here’s what one client decided after seeing the breakdown:

We’ve decided that the cost difference between L A R (after reimbursement) and a PPO (after co-pay) will be worth it.

FYI, here’s how the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Federal Employee Program reimburses (co-pay for a PPO is $30):

Do you accept credit cards?

L A R Physical Therapy prefers payment by cash or check. Check should be made payable to L A R Physical Therapy. Credit cards are now being accepted via the Square. Payment is expected at the time services are rendered.

Is a physician referral required?

A physician referral is not required for physical therapy in Maryland.  While some insurance companies require a referral, documentation can be requested after the first appointment if needed.  If you’re aware of required documentation ahead of time, or are concerned about the requirements, please call your insurance company ahead of time.

Are you a Medicare provider?

L A R Physical Therapy is not a Medicare provider and cannot bill Medicare for you. Due to Medicare’s guidelines, we are unable to treat Medicare patients for physical therapy.  However, our training options which are Pilates/fitness based are a great option for Medicare clients since they are not billed through insurance.

What is your cancellation policy?

Physical therapy appointments that are canceled with less than 24 hours notice (or no show appointments) are subject to a $30.00 charge, which is not reimbursable by insurance companies.

Pilates sessions that are canceled with less than 24 hours notice (or no show) will be counted as a session.

Also, late arrivals are subject to the full fee for the session.  Insurance claim forms will only reflect the services rendered.
