Foam Rolling

Foam rolling can be part of a physical therapy plan, an adjunct to your current strengthening / cardiovascular workout, or a supplement to keep your tissues pliable between massages.  Foam rolling provides self-myofascial release and helps to ease muscle tension and trigger points. It can be performed as a warm-up or cool down, or on its own to help keep muscles flexible and mobile.  Everyone can benefit from foam rolling as part of a balanced fitness program.
Check out this video for some of the basics on foam rolling, and for instruction on how to roll your quadriceps and iliotibial band.  If you need a foam roller, there are many colors and densities.  You can purchase them in a store or you can order online.
